How to Build Your Own Hand Balancing Stands

There are many reasons for using hand balancing canes. They obviously help with the balance, but can also be very useful for learning hand-to-hand handstands. Others use it to relieve wrist pressure or to gain more control.

Make Your Own Hand Balancing Stands

Below are two very detailed videos on how to make hand balancing stands. Having any kind of hand balancing canes makes it easier to balance and allows you to perform with more confidence and precision.

Even though the canes made in these videos are not ideal, you get pretty much all information you need to make any kind you want.

Feel free to skip to 1:50 mark in the first video.

Some people just enjoy making everything they can with their own hands and this goes for hand balancing canes as well. However, for vast majority of people it would be too tedious, risky and even expensive (materials + time) to create them on their own. Why not get a pair of hand balancing stands here and have it shipped right to your doorstep?

Handstand Blocks for Sale

As far as I know this is the only site that has handstand blocks for sale.

Hand Balancing Blocks

Let me tell you about how these came about. A couple years after starting this site, an older hand balancer was enjoying it and sent me a pair of stands as a gift. I was very pleased and I also figured other people would be interested in them. When I asked they said YES! So my friend and I reverse engineered them and came up with the model I’ve been selling ever since.

If you want you can easily make them yourselves, assuming you have the tools, resources and the know-how. I don’t make much money off of these, and it’s a bit of a hassle getting them made, but I like being able to offer it to hand balancers around the world.

If you’d like to get a pair you can order the handstand blocks here.

Also if you’re looking for something custom let me know and I’ll see what I can do.

There are a number of other similar handstand blocks I’ve seen around.

Handstand Blocks

These ones are on a solid base. Great if it’s custom made for you. Not if your shoulder span happens to be bigger or smaller then fits. You’ll also notice the sloped hand blocks as these may aid in making balancing easier.

Handblocks

Once again a set base. Also the hand blocks themselves are a bit too square for my tastes.

If you want to pay a ton of money for a professional setup you can over at Unicycle.fr. They have all manner of setups, but be forewarned it is going to cost you.

So if you’re looking for handstand blocks for sale you’ve come to the right place. You can buy them here, make your own, or try to find them anywhere else (not recommended).

French Hand Balancer Video

Here is a great video I saw recently of an excellent hand balancer from France. It shows a wide variety of amazing hand balancing skills.

Hand balancing stands are used in about the first half of the video. Then a few other tools are used throughout as well. One of my favorites is jumping off of the table in a handstand. And it ends with some tumbling movements as well.

Just by studying this you can find something you can add into your routine, even if you’re not as advanced the basics of moving the body around while in a handstand is great for just about everybody.

Adam Vazquez

Thanks to George for pointing hand balancer Adam Vazquez out to me.

Obviously very talented. Personally I really enjoy the move shown at the 2 minute mark, the back handspring (onto a raised platform, no less) sticking into a handstand.

And I don’t know about you but this video makes me want to use my hand balancing stands.

One Arm Half Planche Picture

Here’s another picture of Rafael Guerrero doing a one arm half planche or lever at Club Aponte.

Walking and Jumping On Your HandsWalking and Jumping On Your Hands on Amazon

one arm half planche at Club Aponte

There’s a few things I’d like to point out about this picture.

First off, on the move itself. I’ll be having more on the one arm half planche soon, even a full article as its a move I’ve been working on recently. You’ll notice his arm is moving, most likely this was an action shot, as he moved his arm to the fully extended position.

As you can see from the crowd this was a performance. Something to take into consideration if you ever perform. You need to be in a position that everyone can see you. If you don’t have a stage with theater seating you can simply raise yourself up on a table.

You’ll also notice the hand balancing stands Rafael is using. I guess these were common among professionals as they look very similar to the hand balancing stands I first received and have now made available. I just received a new shipment in from my manufacturer so they’re ready to ship out immediately. The hand balancing stands add a new dimension to what’s possible.

Good Luck and Good Hand Balancing,
Logan Christopher
