Seemingly Effortless 30 Freestanding Handstand Pushups

This guy managed to achieve his goal for 2015 and perform 30 freestanding handstand pushups. He mentions being able to churn out only 10-15 a year ago, whereas the plan for the end of 2015 is 50 freestanding handstand pushups.

And I am pretty sure he’s going to make it.

Few Tips to Help You Master One Hand Handstand Hops

Performing a one arm handstand is hard enough, but if you’re already advanced enough you might be interested in a few tips on how to do one arm handstand hops. Shen from Runaway Circus crew makes it looks easy, but it’s definitely something that requires a lot of practice.

Depending on your abilities, you may start with a regular handstand and then transfer to a one hand handstand or just go straight for the one hand handstand. From there on make sure to use your knees and hips to launch yourself toward the sky, instead of just kicking with your legs. Use that momentum and power from the hips to keep going.

An Effective Drill to Help You Prepare for The Handstand Press

If you’re just starting out your hand balancing journey, here is a quite good exercise for developing strength you’ll need to perform the handstand press. There are actually two exercises in the video by Lui Sarabia, but he combined it into one. Using an exercises ball in this way will greatly improve your core and shoulder strength, as it works in a similar manner to an ab wheel.

Lui recommends performing three to four sets of ten reps once you get used to the exercise. The video is filmed in different angles so you can really see what’s going on from all sides!

Make Your Own Hand Balancing Stands

Below are two very detailed videos on how to make hand balancing stands. Having any kind of hand balancing canes makes it easier to balance and allows you to perform with more confidence and precision.

Even though the canes made in these videos are not ideal, you get pretty much all information you need to make any kind you want.

Feel free to skip to 1:50 mark in the first video.

Some people just enjoy making everything they can with their own hands and this goes for hand balancing canes as well. However, for vast majority of people it would be too tedious, risky and even expensive (materials + time) to create them on their own. Why not get a pair of hand balancing stands here and have it shipped right to your doorstep?

Handstand Stretching Drills

Apart from regular training, achieving your first handstand requires quite a bit of flexibility as well, especially for the straight handstand. Here are some great stretches to improve your flexibility for this particular handstand variation.

There are four stretching drills in the video – active dynamic, active static, passive dynamic and passive static. As you might have guessed, I like the one with the gymnast bridge the most.
